Do you charge for travel?
We base our mileage charge on HM Revenue & customs recommendation of 45p per mile. This starts at the 10 mile mark, e.g.: If your address is 11 miles from our nearest Busydays face painter, we will only charge £0.90 in travel expenses (£0.45 each way). This will be clearly set out in our reply when we confirm availability.
How do I know the face painter I am booking is safe?
All Busydays face painters are carefully vetted by us. We ensure each face painter has been enhanced CRB/DBS checked. The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) have merged to become the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). CRB checks are now called DBS checks. We ensure these checks are at the enhanced level, meaning checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands and final warnings plus any additional information held by local police that’s reasonably considered relevant to the workforce being applied for.
How do I know the products used are safe?
Busydays face painters only use high quality, professional, water based paints that will easily remove with soap and water. They will only use professional products which are -
If a child has very sensitive skin then face painting may cause irritation. A skin patch test can be carried out to check this. It is the responsibility of the Parent/Guardian to inform your Busydays face painter of sensitive skin in advance of any painting. Busydays, and Busydays face painters cannot be held liable for any allergic reaction. Busydays face painters will not paint anyone who has an obvious skin complaint (eczema, open wounds, acne, cold sores, conjunctivitis etc.) Or anyone who is obviously unwell (sneezing, runny nose, rash etc.) The water your Busydays face painter will be using is changed regularly during a face painting session and they will always use a clean sponge for every face to avoid cross contamination. All brushes are thoroughly washed with detergent and sponges are machine washed after every event.
Will I need to provide anything for the face painter?
Your face painter should ideally be set up indoors wherever possible. They need to protect their expensive equipment from the elements, & it is actually really hard to paint & battle wind, bright sun and rain. If you do decide to set your face painter up outside please ensure you provide adequate shelter that completely covers and protects both your face painter and their equipment.
Please provide a table and two chairs for your face painter, and wherever possible please ensure the Busydays face painter has access to fresh water and hand washing facilities. If this is not possible please advise us of this so we can ensure our face painters are fully equipped.
It is a very good idea to try and have someone on hand to help organise your guests; finding out which design they would like in advance of their turn and perhaps keeping a list of who is next. This will save time, and help avoid children spending the party standing around waiting for their turn; allowing them to enjoy the party even more. We will include a few more top tips on how to get the most out of your face painting booking in your confirmation email.
How long should I book for? How many faces can your face painters paint in a hour?
Busydays face painters can normally paint between 8-15 face per hour depending which designs are asked for and are experienced at matching their speed to the number of people waiting. For parties, the better organised you are with the children the more time the painter can spend on each child’s design and the more faces they can paint within the time allowed. All our packages have set maximum numbers we know we can paint, ensuring the best possible service and avioding any dissappointed guests.
My child has special needs; will your face painters be able to cope?
All Busydays face painters are experienced, outgoing, relaxed and friendly. Some have Makaton training, but all are brilliant at communicating with all children.
Is my child to young? Or too old?!
Most children (and the young at heart!) love face painting. Children from about three years of age can enjoy having their faces painted (the child has to be able to show consent). As for too old…never! We have had party bookings for sweet sixteenth to 40th and even 60th birthday parties. We have even painted a 87 year old veteran who has always wanted his initials on his knuckles but didn't like tattoos!
Will Busydays face paint for my charity?
As you can imagine we are inundated with requests asking us to help fundraise. We tend not to donate services during school holidays, as these are our busiest times. However we do offer a charity rate, providing the opportunity to charge the public per face painted, with our face painter collecting payments and passing all funds raised directly back to the charity. This helps recoup some, or all of the costs incurred as well as the potential to fundraise at very busy events. Please get in touch if you would like more information and a quotation for your event.
Will Busydays face paint at my event?
